Hauora

 L.I: To draw and label your own Hauora diagram

In order to be able to perform at their best athletes need to have a four walls of the whare tapawha standing. We created this poster to show what each wall represents and why it is important. I found out that if you arn't feeling really happy and one of your walls fall down, that means every other wall will fall aswell unless you pick yourself up and keep pushing yourself to be positive. I enjoyed making this poster because other people can read it and learn how to win without shoving it in other peoples faces.

Hauora and Olyimpians

L.I: To show our understanding of Hauora in context.

Athletes at the top of their field train mentally and physically because it is both the body and the mind that need to be strong to have the balance as an athlete. It is important to enjoy and celebrate the success you earn but it is equally as important to embrace the less successful times. it is the learning you take from losing that makes you stronger and wiser. Win or Lose, still show sportsmenship to the others because it is important that no one loses their confidence and motivation.

Water Safety / Thinking Grid

L.I: To determine prior knowledge. 

Information:

It is important to be safe in the water for many reasons. Like you could drown, waves could push you, might have a broken down boat or it could be that you can’t swim. Learning about Water Safety is important in NZ because we are surrounded by water. One of the best things you can do if you are stranded in the middle of the ocean is to not panic, stay calm and float. 

For this activity I answered these questions by giving different reasons of What do you know about water safety?, How might you get into trouble in the water?, What do you do if you get into trouble in the water?, What advice would you give to a child under 6 to keep them safe when swimming?, Why is it important to be safe in the water? and Why is this really important for NZ kids? Learning about Water Safety is important in NZ because we are surrounded by water. A Water Safety fact is that one of the best things you can do if you are stranded in the middle of the ocean is to not panic, stay calm and float. It is important to learn about Water Safety in NZ because we are surrounded by water. I enjoyed learning different facts.

Mindfulness Reflection

Today we were focusing on Mindfulness. Mindfulness is like working on yourself, focusing on now, having a positive mindset, taking care of your body and many more. I've learnt about the Green Zone and the Red Zone, the Green and Red Zone are two different Zones/categories. The Red Zone is basically being uncalm, negative, fastrated and stressed. The Green Zone is being calm, focused, relaxed, balanced and peaceful. If you were in a bad situation do you think being in the Red Zone would help you? We have used the Mindfulness bell as we focused on our breathing. The Mindfulness bell helps you focus on breathing and calming down. Something I learnt about Mindfulness is that 'Mindfulness is a practice that pushes away negative thoughts and focuses on well being/mental health'.

My Dream Is...

 L.I: To write down what my dream is in the future.

In this DLO it tells you what I want to do or acheive in the future. My biggest dream is to make sure that my parents live happily and to make sure that my siblings do as well but the thing I would like to do is play rugby as I grow older and older. For this acitivty I wrote what my dream is, How i'm going to achieve it, Why i'm inspired to do it and Why it's my dream. I enjoyed this acitivty because I got to say what I wanna say and because I would want my parents to read my opinion on what my dream is for the future.

Pulley

 LI: To use our smart searching skills to find out about pulleys.

We have been learning about simple machines. There are 6 different types of simple machines. This week we learnt about pulleys. Our DLO shows our labelled diagrams of a pulley system. A labelled diagram is an information picture. Pulleys are… (add your 25 word summary here). Did you know that a Pulley is like an elevator except not for people but for heavy objects and many more other things.

The qualities of a good leader

 L.I: To unpack what leadership looks like

Today me and my group explained what leadership is. We had 4 words to break down and explain, the words were Role Model, Leadership, Team and Responsibility. To be a leader you must have a group. A group is a team that works together. Role model is when you show that you have good behaviour towards others. Team is when you work collaboratively with others in a positive way. Responsibility is when you take control of someone. Something that we found interesting was that you don’t have to be a leader to lead a group.

Decorating The Tree

 L.I: To decorate the tree in the office with our handmade decorations.

This Term LS2 was working on our sewing. We got to pick our holiday decoration and I chose a Palm tree with a pineapple sewed onto it, my other one was the chinese ying and yang and the last one was a tongan flag. We chose to hang them on the Christmas tree. Today most of the LS2 students have finished their sewing so we went to hang them on the tree we first went to the office where the tree was then when we got there we were talking with Mr Jonhstion (our client) about our holiday decorations and how they look and that if we had any thing we would do differently next time. Then we stood up one by one to hang our holiday decoration on the tree. This was fun and cool looking and we put our holiday decorations on the christmas tree.

Design Technology Challenge

L.I: To design and make a holiday decoration that fits the client brief.

 

This week, The LS2 students designed and created Holiday Decorations to hang on the christmas tree. We started off  by asking questions to our client  Mr johnston then we created a DLO(Brainstorm, mood board) with the information that Mr jontsthon gave us we did this DLO to understand what we are going to make and to see how many materials that we are going to use . The materials LS2 used were felt, thread, cotton, needles and many more but before we started on creating our designs we practiced how to do blanket stitching and running stitch so that we can get the hang of sewing. Some of the holidays people chose were Hanukkah, Dewali, Christmas and more. My decoration  that I made was a palm tree with a pineapple sewed onto it, my second one was a chinese ying and yang and my last one was a tongan flag. I’ve been working hard on these decorations and so had the rest of LS2. I really enjoyed this activity because I learnt how to do new things and even though I had some accidents with the needle I still had fun creating my decorations.

Who will get my vote

 L.I: To decide which political party will get your vote by making an informed choice.

In LS2 we made an election DLO. We were learning about the different parties which are National, Labour, Green and the NZ Maori. Our DLO is about who we vote for and if I was 18 I would vote for the green party because they have many reasons to help New Zealand and they also want to help families that struggle with money therefore if the Green party wins Marama Davidson should become prime minster. Something I learnt while doing this election DLO is that the government sets different age groups for different things do such as driving.

Family Tree

L.I: To create a Family Tree about your family.

 

This week for our Te Reo Challenge, I created a DLO that talks about my family tree and it has all my family members names in it. I used Maori words that could help us understand  more about my  family tree. The family tree includes our siblings, parents, grandparents and great grandparents and it also has designs I traced and created. 

It's cool to be me

L.I: To complete this task that will help you understand things about me.

This DLO is about me, This DLO can help you understand some things you may know or may not know about me. The  Dare program helps us and inform us with things  that can kill us and helps us make wise choices.  What I really enjoyed was writing down My goals for this year. One of my goals is To become a famous WNBA player. For example I want to be like Elena Delle Donne when I grow up and another goal I set is to get abs.

Making Choices

 L.I: To create a DLO about what emergency service you would join and how would they help if there was a natural disaster.

In this DLO I created it shows and tells you what choice I've made about what emergency service I would join if I had a choice and I chose the New Zealand police because I would want to take care of New Zealand (Aotearoa). My DLO talks about how is the New Zealand helpful when it comes to a natural disaster. While making this DLO I learnt that the New Zealand police have to past exams to get there career(job). The New Zealand police are here to protect us and they are here to keep us safe from danger.

Flood Information

 L.I: To make a DLO about information for when there is a flood.

I made this slide show with my buddy and in this slide show it tells you what to do when there is a flood. A flood is when one whole destination gets covered up with water. In a flood you can swim or drive somewhere safe but you should never walk in the flood and the reason why you should never walk in a flood is because if the flood has fast moving water it can knock you over and it can cause injuries, you could drown or it could lead you to death. This DLO was made to keep people safe and healthy.

How to stay safe from a Flood

L.I: To create a DLO about how to stay safe from a flood.

In this DLO it talks about how to stay safe in a flood. A flood is when water covers the whole outside of a place. In my DLO I had to write steps of how to keep safe when you are caught up in a flood. I wrote how to say safe and I drew about it too. My favourite part of creating this DLO was that I learnt new facts about the flood and the challenging part was that I kept having to start again when I was tracing.

Natural Disaster Research / Flood

 L.I: To research about a natural disaster "Floods".

For this task, Liletina and I worked together and found information about a Natural Disaster, The Natural Disaster we picked was a Flood, I really liked reading information about the floods because some of the information were important for safety. I really liked working with my buddy because we shared our Ideas and found out interesting facts and information.

Scientist Research: Geology Mary Anning

 L.I: To create a DLO about a Geology Scientist.

For this DLO I worked by myself and it just tells you who Mary Anning is. For this DLO I wrote information about who Mary Anning is and what was she famous for and I also wrote some interesting facts about about Mary Anning as well. when I created this DLO the part I enjoyed the most was learning fun facts about Mary Anning and my favourite fact is that Mary Anning taught herself to do things. The hardest part about creating this DLO was that I had to try put the information I researched in my own words.

Scientist research: Biology "Charles Darwin"

 L.I: To create a DLO of a Biology Scientist

In this DLO it shows you about a biology scientist Charles Darwin. I had to find out information about him and I had to put it in the my own words. I wrote some facts about who Charles Darwin is and I wrote some information as well. The challenging part about creating this DLO was that it was hard to believe that Charles Darwin had 10 children and the most fun part about creating this DLO was that I found out a lot of interesting information about Charles Darwin.

Scientist Research: Chemistry "Marie Curie"

 L.I: To find out about a "Chemistry Scientist".

I and my buddy worked together to get this task done. I really liked sharing my ideas and telling my buddy what I know about Marie Curie. We wrote interesting facts and wrote information about Marie Curie. We explained who she is,The most interesting fact I learned was that she was the first woman to win the noble prize.

Physics DLO (Albert Einstein)

 L.I: To create a DLO about a Physics Scientist from the past.

For this task, My group worked together to find the information about Albert Einstein, My group decided  to do Albert Einstein, We used our searching skills to find facts that you may not know about him , We also used our knowledge to write information about him. I really enjoyed working with my group because we shared our ideas and what we think we should put in our DLO.
