Confidence CARE Award | Acivity 3

L.I: To teach my teacher how to count in Tongan.

This DLO showing is one of my Care Awards for my Silver Confidence Badge that I am working towards. For this task I needed to create an DLO teaching your teacher a new skill. For this DLO I am showing Mrs Mcclane how to count from 1 to 20 in tongan. I helped her by saying the numbers in tongan then I asked her to repeat the numbers after me. I really enjoyed this challenge because I taught my teacher something she didn't know how to do.

Confidience CARE Award | Activity 2

LI: To teach a small group of juniors how to play a game.

For this CARE Activity I chose to complete 'to teach a small group of juniors how to play a game'. The game I taught the group of juniors was Duck Duck Goose and Ball Rush. The rules of Duck Duck Goose is everyone gets into a circle, one person goes around the circle and taps peoples head saying Duck but if they tap you and say Goose, you'll have to get up and try tag you before they sit down and take your spot. Also the rules for Ball Rush is theres two taggers and the rest are deffenders, the tagger will have to try tag you, when you get tagged you have to stay still where you were tagged until the game ends. I taught a little group of sudents from Room 6 how to play these games. They all willingly participated the game I taught them.

This activity was really fun because I got the chance to teach a game to the little students and all of us had a good time.

Duffy Assembly

L.I: To understand how reading can change everyones lives.

Today we had Marc from Duffy come and talk to us about the importance of reading and how reading can make a big impact on your life.  Although Marc had some challenges in his life he used reading as a tool to get through the hard times.  Marc believes that there is only CANs and not CAN’Ts. I found the words that Marc said important because it makes me try harder in everything I do and I know that I Can do anything.

Key Compatencies

LI: To compare the Key Competencies we think we will use on camp and the Key Competencies we actually used.

Before we went to camp our challenge was to think about when we might use the Key Competencies as we faced the challenges.  When we came back from camp we looked at this and compared how we thought we would use the Key Competencies and how we actually used them. I found this activity exciting because I couldn't wait to go to camp and when I got to experience camp it was even better then I thought.

Brochure

LI: To a collaborative brochure that tells others why Kokako Lodge is a great place to go on camp.

Inside:

Outside:

Over the last week everyone challenged themselves during the sessions at archery, high ropes, kayaking, raft building, camp cooking, pancake race and team building/orienteering. Our group collaborated to create a brochure that shows others why Kokako Lodge is a great place to go on camp. This activity was creative because I got the chance to show others what camp looks like, what you can do at Kokako Lodge and where it's located.

Kokako Infographic

L.I:To create an infographic using google draw that tells your audience facts about the kokako bird.

This week, everyone in LS2 has been given a set of different challenges based on our camp. For this activity we used our smart searching skills to find information about the North Island Kokako bird. I found this activity enjoyabel and stunning because it was my first time learning about the Kokako Bird. Some of the information about the Kokako Bird were interesting to read and learn about aswell.

5 Minutes of Camp

LI: To recount a 5 minute snapshot of one experience you had at camp.

My Amazing Risk It’s time! Time for me to finally take the risk of my life. Lining up with my group as we walked down a little, muddy, slippery row of stairs to get to our destination. Sitting down listening to the important rules that came out of the instructors mouth, making me feel sick and afraid. How can I be feeling like this and I haven't even taken a risk yet? It was my turn to finally face the scary vertical wooden pole called the ‘High Beam’. I thought I had all the confidence I needed until I realised that I was standing in front of the ladder getting ready to take my first step. Taua was holding the ladder, I looked at him hoping that he was holding the ladder still. I took a deep breath before I took my left foot and started climbing the ladder rung by rung. Everything's shaking and in my head I’m telling myself I can’t do it but I had to take the risk. Making my way up the ladder as I got to the last step of the ladder I took a deep breath and thought I can do this! Taking my first step as I go higher onto the first staple that is attached to that huge vertical pole. Going higher and higher I reached to the top and I bravley balanced on my two legs with only three people holding me by a rope. I took my first step along the beam and started walking thinking that I was gonna fall. My legs started to shake but I had to carry on, finally making it to the end of the beam hugging the pole and not letting go. Almost done, almost done I kept telling myself as I was trying to finish completing the high beam. Letting go of the pole as I start walking to the middle of the beam. I thought to myself, ‘Phew’ I completed the high beam but then I realised I was still not finished, I had to get down to the ground. I looked down, which made it worse, trying my best not to cry as I leaned back getting ready to come back down onto the ground. To me this was scarier than climbing the pole. Taking me three to five tries to lean back so that the instructor could lead me down, I kept thinking I was going to fall. Leaning back and taking that one big risk, I did it! I took the risk and finally accomplished my goal. I am proud of myself for being a risk taker. Heavenly. U

Last week we went to camp at Kokako Lodge. My 5 minute snapshot shows my personal voice and I have tried hard to paint a picture with my words to describe what I was doing and how I felt. I found this activity fun and interesting because I got to write about the scariest activity to me and I got to express my feelings about how I felt Before and After I took my risk and completed the activity.

Camp Collage

L.I: To create collage of your camp highlights.

This week LS2 have been celebrating our camp. I created this collage to show my time at camp and the activities I enjoyed. To make my collage effective I thought about the size of the images, the angle of the images and I tried hard not to leave any gaps between the photos. I found this activity interesting because I got to look at all the photos and some of them were funny to look at. It was a great way of showing everyone about what I did at camp with everyone else.
